Our commitment to providing a dignified retirement for horses that have devoted their working lives to serving the pleasure of humans is the driving force behind our mission. Under our 501 (c) 3 status, a portion of your fees may be tax-deductible.
MERA has developed a network of boutique horse farms in the area where we provide high-level care for your horse in a safe and secure environment. All satellite facilities feature fenced paddocks with run-ins or stalls with fans.
Kim and Bruce Anderson have decades of experience managing horses and have run the Manakin Sabot Equestrian Center for over 18 years. MERA personnel provide daily care for your horse -- feeding, stall cleaning, and checking the horse's overall condition. We can arrange for farrier and vet care with your people or yours. Retirement board starts at $500 / month and includes feed and hay, supplements (provided by you), blanketing, and fly masks.
Located in the heart of Central Virginia Horse Country, we are uniquely situated just five minutes from Routes 288 and Interstate 64, and it's a short twenty minutes to downtown Richmond. www.manakinequine.org
